Project Description

Blow-down tanks are fabricated according to ASME code construction and are national board certified. Adamson Boiler Blowoff tanks are utilized to reduce temperature and pressure of the blowdown discharged from a boiler. With few exceptions it is unlawful, and in all cases it is undesirable to discharge the boiler blowdown directly to a sanitary sewer. It is recommended that blowdown temperature and pressure be reduced to 150º F maximum and 5 psig maximum respectively prior to final release. In many cases additional cooling of the tank discharge is required. This can be accomplished by any standard heat exchanger located between tank discharge and sewer. Although many cities and states do not have an unfired pressure vessel law, very often boiler blowoff tank specifications are included with the boiler code.
