ATMOSPHERIC TANKS
General Information
The requirements of Underwriter' Laboratories, Incorporated cover horizontal and vertical factory-completed welded cylindrical steel tanks intended for above ground and underground storage of flammable and combustible liquids at pressures between atmospheric and 0.5 psi gauge. They are intended for use with non-corrosive, stable fluids only, which have a specific gravity not exceeding that of water. They are intended for stationary installations in accordance with the flammable and combustible liquids code of the National Fire Protection Association, Incorporated, NFPA Pamphlet Number 30, NFPA Number 30A, NFPA Number 31 and NFPA Number 37. These requirements do not cover welded steel production tanks employed in oil field service.

DOUBLE WALL TANKS
A Secondary Containment Steel Tank
Consists of a complete tank enclosed within a secondary tank, provided with means for monitoring the space between the inner and outer wall for leakage through either wall. Secondary containment tanks are of either Type I or Type II construction, defined as follows.
Type I Tank
A primary tank wrapped by an exterior steel shell that is in direct contact with the primary tank where the exterior shell may be wrapped the full 360 degrees of the primary tank circumference, or as little as 300 degrees.
Type II Tank
An outer tank physically separated from the inner primary containment tank by standoffs where the inner tank is completely contained within the outer tank and provided with a means for monitoring the annulus (space between inner and outer tank) for a leak in either vessel.
VERTICAL ABOVEGROUND TANKS
Features
Thickness of tank shells and bottom are all per UL/API above ground tank standards. 3,000 gallons (96" x 8'-0" shell height) through 29,600 gallons (144" x 35'-0"). We can build smaller vessels though loose bolt M/H may not apply.
DOUBLE WALL VERTICAL ABOVEGROUND TANKS
Additional Features
  • Sidewalls and bottom are double-walled; cone top is single thickness
  • The space between sides and bottoms insures free flow to the monitor.
  • Fittings and manholes are installed as in UL/STI Type I 360 degree wrap double-wall tanks.
  • A 2" threaded connection is provided to accommodate leak monitoring.
